In this course our 3rd semester students create hybride textiles by combining craft and new technologies. Traditional textile techniques, such as weaving or knitting, are combined with lasercut or 3D printed materials. The continous experimental tasks are always blending two spheres: mass produced and custommade, analog and digital as well as slow and fast processes. Working on the experimental material series the students learn what an iterative design process means and develop their individual methods of creating experimental set ups.
Students who have completed this course are able to research on new materials and new production methods, apply technologies such as lasercutting or 3D printing as well as innovative materials in their design concepts. Furthermore they are able to create innovative materials concepts and document their experimental series adequately with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
