Interior Design

• MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION – By exploring new materials, learning about their properties and studying the basics of assembly processes, the students gain insight into the topics of materiality and construction, both through technical and hands-on exercises. Detail drawings, mockups, and prototypes become essential tools in the process of learning by doing.
• BASIC DESIGN COURSES – Enhancing creativity and developing craftsmanship is essential for a design student. A basic understanding about colors, composition, and contrasts as well as skills of model making and hand sketching are taught and deepened in the basic design courses.
• INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIO – In the Interdisciplinary courses the Interior Design students work with students from the Graphic and Product Design programs, experiencing collaborative and interdisciplinary work. By developing a project including topics from all three disciplines, the students get an insight of the importance of task division and teamwork, without losing a holistic approach.
• FURNITURE DESIGN – The design and selection of furniture is key in the creation of interiors, therefore the students learn about the history, as well as the practical and conceptual skills related to furniture design. By analyzing, designing, and producing prototypes, the students gain a better understanding about design processes.
• COMPLEMENTARY ACITIVITES – The diverse curricula of the Interior Design program is complemented by excursions, guest lectures, and field trips. With these various activities, the students increase their knowledge, explore new fields, and get new sources of inspiration. Furthermore, at the end of every semester there is a student work exhibition for the students to share and learn from each other.
