Spring Semester 2024 || 4 Sem. || Lighting Design || Prof. Adrian von Starck

BA in Architecture & Design

In this course, students learn about the physical, physiological, and psychological basics of natural and artificial lighting. In the context of a design exercise, these topics are approached conceptually and implemented technically. Atmospheric visualizations show the intentions and effects of the developed concepts.

A young couple has their apartment redesigned with the option of using it as their own private club. Platforms of different heights allow for elegant zoning and for a DJ booth with a view. An organic ceiling lamp acts as a centerpiece for the open-plan living room and contains stage lighting elements that generate spectacular atmospheric situations at night.

The site is a fictitious 100m² apartment in a city of the students’ choice – in this case, Reykjavik.
