HACKING GLOBAL PLAYERS

FS 2017-18 || 1 Sem. || Modelmaking 1 || Prof. Jan C. Regett

Each designer re-designed 1 standard, profane IKEA chair. Additional materials to be used were limited. The designer was not to exceed the budget of 20€. Furthermore each designer drew 1 attribute from a pool of attributes for the new design.

 

 

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING DESIGN FOR STORA ENSO COMPETITION

The competition of 2017 by swedish packaging manufacturer is about re:- creating sustainable packaging for kids. The goal is to make it more fun, enjoyable and appealing for children using the Stora Enso renewable materials. A search for innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that stand out from what we see and experience today.

 

 

GEOMETRIC DESIGN EXPLORATION

The first geometric design products realized by the 1st. sem. students as the conclusion of the course Introductory to Product Design I.

GLASSBERRIES DESIGN AWARDS 2017

Two winners from product design department of BAU International Berlin:

  • Glassberries Bronze Award 2017: Michelle Sprenger (Switzerland)
  • BA Glassberries Award 2017: Karl-Fredrik Stenhaug (Norway)

The award-giving ceremony of Glassberries 2017 took place on Thursday 8th June 2017 at the prestigious AXICA convention centre in Berlin.
Glassberries Design Awards 2017 is organized and sponsored by BA Glass S.A. Portugal.

 

 

100 PERCEPTIONS IN TALLINN OLD TOWN

SS 2018 || Elective || Visual Perception || Prof. Masayo Ave

A joint design workshop realized in Tallinn, Estonia in cooperation with Interior architecture students of Estonian Academy of Arts on 26-29 March 2018. The students of the two institutes teamed up to practice the field research and cooperated to complete the Sensory Material Collection composed of 100 perceptive elements carefully collected in the UNESCO world heritage Tallinn Old Town.

 

 

BA GLASS FACTORY VISIT 2018

A kick-off activity for the Glassberries Design Awards 2018 competition project. The competition-challengers of product design department visited BA Glass Sieraków factory in Poland on Thu. 08 March 2018. The competition project is practicing as a part of two elective courses of Design and Ecology & Visual Perception.

 

 

DESIGN GYMNASTICS @ MUSEUM FÜR NATURKUNDE BERLIN

An intercultural joint design workshop held in the Museum für Naturekunde Berlin in cooperation with the Bedok South Secondary School. As a part of the course of Introduction to Product Design I, the 1st sem. students practiced a unique design exercise named DESIGN GYMNASTICS by forming East meets West teams with the Singaporean students of the Bedok South Secondary School.

 

 

GEOMETRIC DESIGN EXERCISE

The geometric design exercises practiced in the course of Introduction to Product Design I. Applying Origami (paper folding)- and Kirigami (paper cutting) techniques, the 1st sem. students explored a variety of geometric forms.

 

 

STUDY VISIT @ WORLD TRAVEL SHOW 2018 BERLIN

Sustainability & Responsibility in Tourism is the hottest topic pointed in ITB Berlin 2018 – the world’s leading travel trade show held in Messe Berlin on 7-11 March 2018. The students visited the show to get in touch with the sustainable challenges of the tourism industries to explore the ideas of products and tools, which may support the sustainable & responsible activities in travel.

 

 

GEOMETRIC STUDY IN DRESDEN

FS2017/18 || 1.sem || Introduction to Product Design I || Prof. Masayo Ave

A kick-off activity of the Introductory to Product Design I course to impart knowledge of geometric forms from both scientific- and humanistic perspectives. 1st sem. students made a study trip to Dresden on Tue. 24 October 2017 and visited Erlebnisland Mathematik in Dresden and the Institute of Geometry in Faculty of Mathematics in Technical University Dresden.
